Resurrection Day
"The resurrection proclamation could not have been maintained in Jerusalem for a single day, for a single hour, if the emptiness of the tomb had not been established as a fact." [Paul Althus]
"Christ is risen! With this victorious cry the gospel has passed through the lands. The message of the cross is at the same time a message of resurrection [Acts 1:22; 2:32]. In this lies its invincibility." [Eric Sauer]
"The point is not that the resurrection is the price paid for our sins. The point point is that the resurrection proves the death of Jesus is an all-sufficient price. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, then his death was a failure, God did not vindicate his sin-bearing achievement, and we are still in our sins."
[John Piper commenting on 1 Corinthians 15:17]
" And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him." [Mark 16:6]
"The tomb of Christ is famous because of what it DOES NOT CONTAIN." (Sam Morris)
"Christianity begins where religion ends...with the resurrection." [Anonymous]
"The cross is the victory, the resurrection is the triumph...The resurrection is the public display of the victory, the triumph of the crucified one." [Eric Sauer]
"What reason have atheists for saying that we cannot rise again? Which is the more difficult, to be born or to rise again? That what has never been, should be, or that what has been, should be again? Is it more difficult to come into being than to return to it." [Blaise Pasal]
"For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins." [1 Corinthians 15:16, 17]
